Apprenticeship at Progress Printing.

At Progress Printing, we are making the investment in the next generation of craft professionals by training our own workforce. Our three-year in-house apprenticeship program provides opportunities for those in our community interested in learning a trade to enhance their skills.

Graduates of Progress Printing’s apprenticeship program are eligible for the State of Virginia journeyman card. We not only pay for your schooling, but we also pay YOU a competitive wage while learning as an apprentice here.

Take control of your future, learn a new skill set and become a certified Progress Printing tradesman!

26 hours of successful community college coursework required while you are working for Progress Printing. Courses are available at other community colleges for those who can’t attend classes in the Lynchburg area.

Most of our printed material needs to be bound with glue or staples, making our binder operator one of the most important positions in our manufacturing facility. It takes certified binder operators skilled in reading job tickets, repairing machinery, understanding creative layout, and possessing in-depth knowledge of the tools of the trade to satisfy the needs of each specific print job. These operators run our Perfect Binders and our Saddle Binders.

Progress Printing’s three-year registered apprenticeship program teaches the fundamentals of Bindery Machine Operator, so a graduate of our program will earn the status of Binder Operator Journeyman. This apprenticeship is accredited by both the State of Virginia and U.S. Department of Labor. Must be 18 years of age.
