Employee Spotlight: LaKisha Scott
If you ask Dickie Beale, Plant Manager, to describe LaKisha Scott (Binder Operator, Mueller 1), he doesn't hesitate:
"LaKisha is a problem solver. She’s my go-to person for saddle binder questions. She’s steady, consistent, and persistent—and everyone at Progress Printing deeply respects her. She understands our customers’ expectations and delivers every time."
LaKisha’s journey at Progress began on November 15, 1998, just after graduating from Heritage High School. She started her career through a temporary staffing agency, helping on the McCain binder with former team member Frazier Goodwin. Under his mentorship, LaKisha quickly picked up new skills—learning to run the folder and then becoming a binder operator on the Mueller 2. When Progress acquired Mueller 1 around 2009, she transitioned once again, mastering that machine and becoming one of our top-notch operators.
Why Progress Printing Plus?
“I saw a long-term future here,” LaKisha says. “After working a few different jobs, I wanted something stable.” That stability—and Progress Printing Plus’s family-like environment—kept her here for over two decades.
Over the years, LaKisha has played a key role in countless projects, but she especially remembers True North and the Magnet job with Susie Jacobs, where she oversaw boxing and drop shipments. She enjoys the challenge of running Mueller 1—its faster pace, the precision it demands, and the satisfaction of leading a crew. “I like when people come to me for advice. I like solving problems.”
A Progress Love Story
LaKisha’s time at Progress Printing Plus also brought her something unexpected: love. In 2008, her future husband, Aaron Scott, joined the company as a material handler. The two hit it off and eventually married in 2010. Their son, Aadon, was born in 2012.
Now a leader and go-to expert in our bindery division, LaKisha continues to push herself, troubleshoot creatively, and ensure our customers’ jobs go out the door with quality and care. We’re proud to spotlight her dedication and accomplishments—thank you, LaKisha, for everything you bring to Progress!
